The Mitsubishi global compact small car ‘Mitsubishi Mirage’ has been launched in Thailand and some serious production has been going at company’s new factory at Laem Chabang in Thailand. Mitsubishi has planned to export to south asian countries by the end of the year before that Mirage will land in European countries. At the moment, it has been launched in Thailand for the price of 3,80,000 Thai Bhat which is approx Rs.6.26 lakhs.
Already Mitsubishi Mirage has been showcased in Tokoyo Motor show last year and now got into some serious production. As they have launched in Thailand now and soon coming down to south asian countries, will their next stop be in India ? What’s so special with Mitsubishi Mirage ? Budget car and high on Fuel economy with low CO2 emissions. Mitsubishi claims a combined fuel efficiency of 30km/L (equal to 3.3lt/100km or 70mpg US) on the Japanese test cycle.
Features and Specs of Mitsubishi Mirage
Mitsubishi Mirage is powered by a 1.2 litre three-cylinder MIVEC gasoline engine equipped with a Auto Stop & Go (AS&G) system linked to a CVT driving the front wheels. Produces 77 BHP of peak power @ 6000 RPM and 100 Nm torque @ 4000 RPM. As said above, it gives a fuel efficiency of 30kmpl.
Features a high technology impact resistant structure which safe guards in collision or crash. Also sports a fog lamp, electrically foldable and controllable outside rear view mirrors, rear defogger, rear high mounted LED stop lamp, body coloured outside door handles and bumpers, 3 spoke steering wheels design, tilt adjust steering wheel, Tachometer, MID, Driver side seat height adjustment, Split seats at rear, power windows, power steering, central locking, keyless entry, air-conditioning, Built-in Audio system with USB, AUX input and Bluetooth connectivity with phones. On safety side it offers ABS and EBD, Dual SRS airbags, Engine immobilizer etc.
Comes with a 5 speed manual transmission and also a CVT automatic transmission option in Thailand. Designed in a aerodynamic structure for better fuel efficiency. Weighs between 830 Kg to 870 Kg, 3710 mm in length, 1665 mm in width, 1490 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2450 mm. Small turning radius of just 4.4 m.

INR 6.26 lakhs at the moment. But when it arrives in India, due to the tough competition on premium hatchback segment, the price will drop to 4.5 lakhs to 6 lakhs competing Nissan Micra, Swift etc. Mitsubishi’s plans are to sell approximately 2,500 units per month in Thailand.
