With the rise in Petrol, people look for fuel economic bikes at the same time they don’t want to compromise in the performance. So if you’re one among them who is looking for a two wheeler with a decent price, performance and mileage – Today we present you with the best choice of 150cc bikes.

Yamaha SZ-R

Yamaha is always the best when it comes to performance and pickup. but, Yamaha SZ-R is tuned for better fuel economy and the drawbacks are No digital meter, No tubless tyres, but when it comes to style and performance – it out beats other 150cc bikes in the segment. Just awesome! It is powered by 153cc SOHC 2valve producing peak power of 12.1PS@ 7500 RPM and peak torque of 12.8Nm @4500rpm.

It has the same engine of Yamaha Fz but tuned specially for SZ-R for better mileage. Handling, Comfort both are good. Has front disk brakes and overall performance is very good. Talking about the drawbacks – it doesn’t come with a kick starter. No engine off switch, no pass switch, no digital meter and few others.

Note to readers : Do any one own a Yamaha SZ-R, You’re welcome to write a ownership review and contact us to get the review published here.

Honda Unicorn / Dazzler

Unicorn, engine sounds the sweetest. Also the hardest part is the delivery waiting period. Honda Unicorn takes at least 3 – 5 months of waiting period to get delivery of the bike.

Comes with a monoshocks at rear and inverted telescopic suspension in front makes it more stable in high speeds. It has semi digital meter, tuned for high fuel economy, rear disc (yes you read it right, it has disc brakes at both front and rear). Shares the looks with twister, but has high performance. The gear shifts are smooth and gives a average of 50-55 kmpl mileage in city traffic.

Bajaj Discover 150

Apart from the Discover 100cc and 135cc segment, discover also has a 150cc segment. If you don’t want Pulsar 150cc then, you need to check out Discover 150. A good choice for the daily commuter or a family man.

Suzuki GS150R

What’s special with Suzuki GS 150R, it has 6 gears. The design of tail lights with the LED looks awesome. Good performance and comfort. Braking system and exhaust looks solid. Has a decent mileage of 55kmpl on city traffic. Comes with XTP technology (Xtra Torque Power) and Engine balancer technology.

I strongly protest the mileage figure mentioned here for GS150R. I personally own a Unicorn for two and a half years now. Speaking from personal experiences, when it comes to mileage, Suzuki GS150R is always ahead of the Unicorn and the SZ.

    Hi,

I have been using the SZ R for over a year now and the mileage claim by the company is bull****. I was promised 50 to 55 and the best i could milk out o my best is 36kmpl. This dream mileage is only when i go for late night rides and drive in the fift most of the time. It is fast, powerful and smooth but certainly does not give you the expected mileage. Looks fantastic as even today people ask me sports bike hai ? and handling it is a dream. As usual you can never go wrong with a yamaha but DO NOT think about a mileage above 35.

I strongly agree to Arghya’s statement, I own as Suzuki GS150R and did 10,000 kms and getting a mileage of 50 – 55 kmpl which is an awesome in 150cc segment. But in terms of power it is excellent in mid & high range and average in low range pickup. Gear shift is buttery smooth which in incomparable with any other bike in its segment. Bike weighs too heavy on the other side it has a stable control on roads because of its weight. Really an high way rider.
