It isn’t new that Honda is launching a commuter bike in India for the first time, infact they have been in the industry for the past three decades with the joint venture of Hero Honda. After the breakup, Hero is performing better and Honda wants to hold the position with a great back. Currently Honda is lacking a great commuter bike, but already has heavy beast machines such as CBR 250r and now the CBR 150R is going to launch at this month end. Other Commuter bikes from Honda includes Shine, Dazzler.
As you all know, Hero is currently holding the first place in Indian motorbike segement producing the best commuter bikes such as Splendor, Passion, CD Dawn and the second Bajaj with its high selling Discover, Pulsar (recently they have launched Pulsar 200 NS) and third place TVS with their best selling TVS Star city.
Although Honda has Shine which is good in terms of performance but not in price. So, this is the right time for Honda to launch a commuter bike with a good low cost price giving a tough competition to Bajaj, Hero and TVS. With this launch, Honda may get hold of the top three positions in the Indian motorbike segment in next few years.
Honda will launch its commuter bike called ‘Honda Dream Yuga’ with a 110cc engine and it will come in two variants. One is a basic one and other variant with tubeless tyres and front disc brakes. The basic variant is expected to be priced around 40,000 INR. Honda claims that the Dream Yuga 110cc will give mileage of 72 kmpl.
When looking for the first time, Honda Dream Yuga just looks like a Honda Shine with a 110cc four stroke single cylinder engine borrowed from the Honda CB Twister 110. It is expected to launch in the end of May 2012.
