There is a tough competition going between Honda CBR150R vs Yamaha R15 v2 vs KTM Duke 200 where all three are priced around 1-1.20 lakhs. So as expected, Honda will launch their CBR150r next month, second week of march 2012. Yes, I can read your mind voice, it is the downsized variant of the Honda CBR250R, no changes on the body, color schemes. The only change is the engine. The pricing factor is still surprising. It is priced about Rs.1,15,000 which is slightly higher than Yamaha R15 version 2.0 (1.07 lakhs) and much cheaper than KTM Duke 200 (1.17 lakhs)
The Honda CBR150R features a 150cc, DOHC, four valve, single cylinder engine. It is the same fuel injected engine but the downsized variant of CBR250R engine. With the 6 manual transmission gears, it produces a peak power of 17.8 PS @ 10500 RPM and maximum torque of 12.6 Nm @8500 RPM. It has a mono suspension on the rear end and quick self start. The front and rear disc brakes are of 276mm and 220mm dia.
Unlike Yamaha R15, it doesn’t offer radical riding position, CBR150R offers a relaxed driving position and more usable pillion seat, not like a inclined Yamaha R15 v2.0.
I am sure the CBR 150R will outperform all current honda 150 cc bikes such as Unicorn & dazzler. Currently Honda is holding the third position on producing motorcycles in India. Recently it has overtook TVS, but still Bajaj and Hero are the first two largest producers in India. It aims to sell 3500 units of CBR 150R every month.
