New Toyota GT-86 Unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show

The most anticipated compact sports car, the Toyota ‘GT 86’ sports car made its first debut at the 2011 Tokyo motor show. The compact 2+2 model, one of the most keenly awaited new cars of the coming year, will go on sale in the UK in June 2012.

This GT-86 is powered by a horizontally opposed, naturally aspirated 2.0 liter “Boxer Engine”, which develops a peak power of 197bhp at 7,000rpm and a maximum torque of 205Nm at 6,600rpm mated with 6 speed manual/Automatic transmissions. This specially designed ‘boxer’ engine is developed by Toyota and Subaru to improve power and torque throughout various ranges of speed without compromising the Enviornmental effect of this car.

This Toyota GT 86 bags the world’s compact four-seater sports car available today as it just measures 4,240mm long, 1,285mm high and 2,570mm wide.

The GT-86 is packaged in a way to achieve perfect weight distribution to earn good handling and stability. It has a well engineered weight distribution of over 53:47 (front-rear) which is aided by ultra-low centre of gravity optimized at 460 mm.

On the exterior, this car features a scorpion look over the front lower grille and an all new 17 inch alloy wheels, a spoiler and twin exhausts and a special “86” logo denoting the power train configuration.

This car is truly a driver focused car which is designed to be a compact sports car with a precise manner starting from, the ergonomics to the way this car behaves for every minute input given by the driver. So on the whole, this car is not meant for an ordinary city commuter, who uses a car because of necessity to travel for office, it’s meant for those who have passion for riding a truly light-weighted compact sports car with a spirit!
